The best thing about these dates is that they are an excellent time to share with family and/or friends around food. And something that can not be missing is the typical barbecue!

Because not only meats can go on the grill, here I share 8 ideas to innovate and surprise hungry diners.

1. Paprika with egg

I put it first because it is one of my favorites, in addition to being very simple to prepare, it can be eaten on the plate (accompanied by meat and salads) or as an aperitif.

You should only split the peppers in two (with stem included). Then add one or two eggs (depending on the size of the paprika), a little salt, oregano, pepper, and/or merquén (chili powder) to taste. Put directly on the grill for about 30 minutes and ideally cover so that the egg cooks faster. When the egg is cooked, it is ready to enjoy.

2. Multicolored skewers 

Very typical are the skewers for roasts in chili, dare to add more vegetables and/or fruits to this preparation to give them a more varied, fresh, and colorful touch!

Some tips:

  • Make the skewers with the different meats separately, since beef for example takes much less time than chicken to cook.
  • Use ingredients of different colors to make it more attractive.
  • Before putting them on the grill, drizzle them with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  • Some ideas to add: cherry tomatoes, zucchini, mushrooms, eggplant, bell peppers of any color, red onion, white onion, pineapple, green pepper.

You can also make them totally vegetarian.

3. Tomato and green peppers with oregano and Parmesan cheese

Grilled tomatoes and chili peppers are very tasty and are very simple to prepare. The tomatoes should be cut into thick slices so that they do not fall apart on the grill, they can be eaten on the plate or with bread or crackers.

4. Brie cheese with honey

This idea occurred to me a couple of weeks ago and it is delicious and ideal for an aperitif.
You just have to place a piece of brie cheese (approx 150 grams) on double aluminum foil, and then place it on the grill. Add a teaspoon of merquén and wait for the cheese to melt before finally adding the honey (honeycomb is incredible, or it can also be the one that comes in a jar). It can be spread on baguette bread or crackers.

5. Asparagus with olive oil and pepper

Put the asparagus (washed) on aluminum foil and drizzle with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Leave for about 30 minutes on the grill. You will see how crisp and tasty they are!

You can also arrange slices of zucchini (zucchini) in the same way. Marinate before with olive oil, balsamic oil, pepper, and salt. They are delicious!

6. Fish

Not only red meats can be grilled, but we must also take advantage of our riches from the sea such as fish, especially if we are on the beach!

Put the piece of fresh fish (it can be pippin, sea bass, albacore, etc.) on a suitable grill container or aluminum foil. Marinate with lemon juice, lemon and onion slices, white wine, a minced garlic clove, pepper, and salt. Ideal to cover with another piece of paper or cover so that it cooks on both sides. It can be eaten on the plate or with fish tacos style corn tortillas!

7. Grilled potatoes

A classic! Select small or medium size potatoes and wrap (peeled and washed) in foil. Put them directly on the coals and wait at least 1 hour for them to cook. Accompany them with sour cream or natural yogurt with chives and a pinch of salt, they are to lick your fingers!

Tip: You can replace potatoes with onions.

8. Mushrooms in butter

Wash the mushrooms and wrap them all together in aluminum foil before closing the package add two tablespoons of butter and pepper or merquén. Approx 15 minutes on the grill and that’s it! They are tender and very tasty.

Bonus: Dessert

Do we finish the roast and the grill is still on? Take advantage of the fire, clean the grill, and put some pineapple slices on it.

Another idea is to put some bananas on the grill (with the peel), peel only the top of the banana, and with a knife make a cut along with it. Wait a few minutes and add a spoonful of Nutella in the middle, a real delicacy!
